Sleeping disorders affect more people than you know. It is possible you are experiencing a sleep disorder without even knowing about it. Are You Suffering From A Sleep Disorder?

You should also indicate in your sleep log how you felt when you woke up in the morning. If you sleep with someone else, you may want to ask about anything you do while you are asleep. Common Sleeping Disorders

One of the most common of the sleep disorders is sleep apnea. Symptoms of this include feeling tired, Snoring, gaps in breathing while asleep and choking while sleeping. If you experience any of these symptoms, you may be suffering from a very common problem which is fairly easy to treat. Common treatments will include breathing strips attached to the nostrils to expand the airways. In some cases, you may have to wear a breathing device. In rare cases surgery may be necessary in order to implant a breathing device to keep you from having breathing issues while you sleep.

Rare Sleeping Disorder

Narcolepsy is a sleeping disorder which causes you to feel effects while you are awake. This is a neurological disorder which needs to be treated professionally. Symptoms of narcolepsy include feelings of extreme sleepiness on a daily basis, falling asleep suddenly and without warning and short term loss of muscle control. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should seek the help of your doctor right away. You may be able to cure your problem through changes in daily behavior. In extreme cases, you may have to start taking medication.

Preventing Sleep Disorders

In cases like Narcolepsy, there is no way to prevent the onset of the sleeping disorder. In other cases, you can take medication in order to help you. In most cases, the best way to prevent having a problem is to make changes in your sleep patterns. The most common advice even for those already experiencing sleeping disorders is to create a sleep schedule you can stick to. This will mean going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. The benefit is your body will anticipate the sleep to come so you will be able to fall asleep faster and with better results.
